The German Years

Wiesbaden

At the end of the 1970’s, the New York Hustle and the Latin Hustle were all the rage in New York.  My friend, Bill Kerr, and I taught classes in Wiesbaden, Germany in a place called the American Arms. We even did a performance at a German dance school (I need to find the name, I have it somewhere) on TotenSonntag.

Anmutig und Fit durch Bauchtanz

In 1987 my book Anmutig und fit durch Bauchtanz was published by the Falken Verlag in Niedernhausen im Taunus (near Wiesbaden). Today they are part of Random House. And through work on the book I met my favorite photographer, Annerose Shatter, Stuttgart. Annerose took all of the photos in the book, we became friends, and did several more photoshoots together. I wish I had a photo with her. Lovely lady. We went to the ballet together.

Baden Baden

In the early 1980’s (I’m thinking 1984) the ZDF hosted a huge stage anniversary for Caterina Valenti. We met all sorts of politicians and celebrities, invited from all over the globe. The likes of Henry Mancini, Max Gregor, Thomas Fritsch, Dieter Thomas Heck and Lothar Späth. I had photos with all of them, but only a few survived.
